It doesn't go into applications packages and change resources which may cause issues with those applications. However, that's a bit of a different argument than the safety of CleanMyMac.ĭisk Utility is developed by Apple.
If you're criticizing Wikipedia, I can't argue against you that the statement could be better written and needs citation. Of course the Wikipedia is vague and offers no citation, but as I mentioned, it's not hard to take what's there and connect the dots.

It's not unreasonable to think that Apple considers this unsafe and thus rejects apps that do this, because it is unsafe for apps to do this.Īgain, it's pretty easy to find issues that users have had with CleanMyMac, and these things should raise a red flag for anyone considering paying for software that doesn't meet Apple's criteria for the App Store and doesn't provide any real benefits (arguably at best nothing more than what's available freely) and has such high numbers of people reporting serious issues with it. That's a clear violation, and for good reason. Ok, well what rules does it break that we know about? Well, one that we know about is that it's capable of going into the package contents of a 3rd party app and making modifications. However, why are the other apps by the developer in it, but not CleanMyMac? It's not because they didn't submit it. Right, I'm pretty sure there are more apps that aren't in the App Store than are in it. If I turn of iCloud backup for an app, am I only letting that apps data (settings, documents and all) to be "not backed up"? I mean, will that app be installed when I change to a new phone and restore from the latest iCloud backup? I may be fine with some apps not having their configurations or documents saved, like totally cloud-based apps and/or apps that sync documents with iCloud or other cloud services. Maybe it's because with a desktop OS, I can selectively copy back my files etc., I don't know.

I'm just curious.Īnd, I'm just talking about iOS devices, because I'm much more brave when it comes to a Mac or a Windows machine. I also have lots of apps/games that don't use iCloud syncing, so I like my progress (or settings etc.) to stay with me during any upgrade.ītw, I don't have any problems with restoring, or any problems that I've faced by restoring. How do you guys go ahead with setting an iOS device as new? I've been restoring from backup since my iPhone 4 (I guess, maybe the 3GS as well) because I want everything the way I set it, with all my messages, my settings, my accounts, my apps in place.
